Orlando Avila

Program Manager

 

Orlando Avila is a Program Manager for After-School All-Stars Las Vegas. He joined the team in early 2022 with a passion for working with youth. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah where he was born and raised. Orlando attended the University of Utah where he pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. While in college, he was able to work with different after school programs where he assisted youth from elementary school to high school. Towards the end of his college career, he was given an opportunity to work as an intern for Oxbow Jail in their substance abuse program, once he graduated he worked as a substance abuse case manager for Oxbow Jail’s CATS program through Odyssey House. Orlando worked closely with the clients of Oxbow Jail and ran counseling groups, while also providing case management to the clients of the program. He worked in collaboration with therapists, police officers and other case managers to assist the client’s in their recovery during their time at Oxbow Jail and assuring that their recovery was continued once they were released.

 Orlando relocated to Las Vegas in 2018 where he took on the role of Case Manager of Meals on Wheels through Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. After 6 months with the program, he moved up to the Youth Mentoring Supervisor position through Catholic Charities’ Migration and Refugee Services program. After almost 3 years with this program, he found an opportunity to work with ‘After-School All-Stars,’ where he returned to the passion he had in college of working with after school programming. Orlando currently resides in North Las Vegas with his fiancé and their pet dog, his hobbies include DJing, watching boxing and football, and traveling to see his family in Utah.
